Recently received announcement:
After the successful fringe meeting at Conference, on “winning in the south”, and a followup meeting held at Woking in November, it is clear that we need an organisation in the south-east to help local parties in the region to work together.
So we have established “Southern Comfort” as that group (the name is inspired by John Denham’s talk Southrn Discomfort that started the whole process).
The Woking meeting agreed that we need a way for CLPs to talk together, and a website and newsletter were the places to start. The website is now live on the web and the address is

- campaign events and by-elections
- policy discussion events where CLPs would welcome guests from other areas
- social events
- party training events
- news and policy developments in the south east
- tips on campaigning against the Tories and Lib Dems
- leaflet templates that you can download

And if you have any events that you want to publicise or campaign ideas that have worked for you, please email them to info@southern-comfort.org.uk and we will put them on the site and in our newsletters.
Later we hope to introduce a secure and private system for south-east members to ask questions or for advice and debate policy.
We also plan to hold a fringe meeting at the South East Regional Conference in March – more news will follow in the New Year.
